Meet The Business
Named for a man this county refused to leave behind.
The Joshua Glover Justice Fund is a Racine community bail fund founded in 2021, with a plain mission: nobody should sit in jail simply because they are poor. The fund posts bail for people held at the Racine County Jail who cannot afford it, and it will be at Motion on Mead on September 19 so people know the resource exists before they ever need it. The fund carries the name of a Racine ancestor. Joshua Glover escaped slavery in Missouri in 1852 and found refuge in Racine. In 1854 he was seized by slave catchers and jailed in Milwaukee, and a crowd of outraged Wisconsinites broke him out. Stop by the booth to learn how the fund works, or how to reach it for someone you love.
No one should be jailed just because they are poor.
